Bentonite
Bentonite, also known as drilling fluid, is a special clay-like mineral and forms the basis of every successful drilling process. It is essential for horizontal directional drilling: it removes drill cuttings, stabilizes and seals the borehole, and reduces friction of the drill string. This ensures a safe and controlled drilling process.
Because bentonite is so crucial, efficient reuse is paramount. With our advanced recycling units, we give used drilling fluids a second life immediately. High-quality hydrocyclones effectively separate solid particles from the fluid, allowing the bentonite to be reused without loss of quality. This reduces water consumption by up to 50 percent and limits costs and environmental impact.
During the drilling process, the used bentonite is suctioned and pumped to the installation, where sand and other components are removed. After inspection and any necessary replenishment, it is immediately returned to the process. This continuous cycle guarantees an efficient and stable drilling process.
After completion, any remaining bentonite is responsibly disposed of, fully in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. With our own equipment and recognized processing facilities, we ensure a safe and sustainable completion of the process.
